The ‘Shôzan’ (照山) kokeshi captivates with her elegant kimono, gentle smile and long black hair. The supple oval curves give her a particularly graceful appearance.
The mountains shine in the sunlight and the fallen leaves are illuminated, expressing the atmosphere of a late autumn day. In the kimono design, there is also a faint hint of the first snow slowly beginning to fall. The poetic expression of the changing seasons and the beauty of nature is expressed in the design
The kokeshi dolls are individually handmade from solid block of Mizuki-wood. Slightly larger and more massive, these kokeshis give the work a special presence and value.

Die Kokeshi-Puppe mit dem Titel „Shôzan“ (照山) besticht durch ihren eleganten Kimono, ihr sanftes Lächeln und ihr langes, schwarzes Haar. Die geschmeidigen, ovalen Kurven der Puppe verleihen ihr eine besonders anmutige Ausstrahlung.
Dieses Stück drückt die Stimmung eines Spätherbsttages aus, wenn die Berge im Sonnenlicht glänzen und die gefallenen Blätter leuchten. Das Design des Kimonos zeigt auch eine zarte Andeutung des ersten Schnees, der langsam zu fallen beginnt. Es drückt auf poetische Weise die Vergänglichkeit der Jahreszeiten und die Schönheit der sich verändernden Natur aus.
Jede Kokeshi wird aus massivem Mizuki-Holz handgefertigt. Die etwas größere, massivere Kokeshi verleiht dem Kunstwerk eine besondere Präsenz und Wertigkeit.

USABURŌ (岡本卯三郎 - Usaburo I), Usaburo brand
Usaburo I, the founder of Usaburo kokeshi, was born in 1917 in Shinto, Gunma Prefecture, and started kokeshi manufacture in 1950.
Winner of many prizes, including the Prize of the Minister of International Trade and industry. Died in Jul 2009 at the age of 91.
His particular processing technique has redefined the design of traditional kokeshi.
Usaburo also studied the possibiulity of using keyaki and chestnut, trees having beautiful grains, in addition to table dogwood, a commonly used material. Today, Usaburo Kokeshi can boast 6 award-winning craftsmen, as well as 25 collaborating craftsmen employed in the production of kokeshi dolls.

Kokeshi dolls are made from natural wood and handmade by artisans. Though they create the same kokeshi dolls as the product photos, the appearances of them such as colors, shapes, grain, facial expression may be a little different from pictures. Please accept the matter of these slight differences.
